Pittsview house
PROJECT TYPE: Residential
LOCATION: Ann Arbor, MI
PROJECT GOALS: Design a soothing, nature inspired home for a growing family.
DESIGN STATEMENT: This three bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home packs a lot of personality into a small footprint. With spacious, generous porches on both the front and back of the house, this home is perfectly set up for indoor-outdoor living. The front entry flows nicely into the interconnected living room, dining room, and kitchen. The far wall boasts a welcoming fireplace and commanding mantle that extends across the entire room, flowing into adjacent shelving and bar space. The kitchen, though compact, houses stainless steel appliances, sage green cabinetry, open shelving, and a small gathering height table with custom apothecary shelving surrounds. The french doors in the dining room lead to the rear porch, featuring two seating areas and a raised bed herb and vegetable garden. Down the hall from the kitchen is the first floor half bathroom, accented by a bold botanical wallpaper. The main bedroom features french doors leading to the rear porch and an expansive king bed with a full wall headboard consisting of varied depths of wood blocks. Behind this accent wall is a pass through closet area that keeps clothes hidden from view but easily accessible. There is an attached en suite bathroom with a custom fully tiled combination tub and shower. Continuing up the stairs leads to a cozy landing with a knee-wall bookcase that conceals a small hidden nook clad in dandelion wallpaper, perfect for fairy tales and daydreams. The first upstairs bedroom is outfitted for a young girl with a desk that’s currently a play station but will soon become a homework hub. Across the hall is a nursery ready to welcome a new addition. The upstairs also houses the second full bathroom, ready to bathe all the children after long days of playing outside. Whether inside or out, this cozy home is ready to meet the whole family’s needs.
